Who is somA?
somA (Amos Fisher, MA, LCAT, MT-BC) is a trauma informed psychotherapist, music therapist, and facilitator practicing in Brooklyn, NY. He studied music psychotherapy at NYU and Nordoff-Robbins, and has training in Bonny Guided Imagery and Music, Neurodynamic Breathwork, and EMDR. He has over 25 years experience in meditation, yoga, psychedelic and shamanic work, and music in all of these settings. He is influenced by therapy styles such as Internal Family Systems, Jungian Shadow Work, Gestalt, Person-Centered, Transpersonal, and Dialectic Behavior Therapies.
somA’s holistic approach embraces such unsung areas of mental health as creativity & art, money, science, politics, personal philosophy, and expanded states of consciousness. He is informed by an ongoing inquiry into subjectivity and objectivity, and the nature of reality and consciousness. In fact he is often suspicious that life is a dream, and explores this idea on his YouTube channel @Empathetic Resonance with somA, and his developing treatise The Philosophy of Listening.
His three albums of original music can be found on Bandcamp @amosfishermusic and Youtube @Anomylos. He enjoys watching science documentaries and sharing his home-roasted coffee.
